LOFT-UNDERGROUND explores a story of the original russian underground culture starting in 1980's and traversing all the way towards the present day. With the use of archive VHS footage as well as contemporary mediums, the talks with underground bellwethers of the previous and the current millennium the film undertakes a journey through illegal art-squats and maverick studios, marginal concerts and radical performances, all in order to compose the primal question — Is it possible to rejoice and to be free in a police-supervised government, be it USSR or modern Russia?
