Paulinicus is known as an exile, but his very existence in exile has remained in the shadows: it is not narrative and it is impossible to 'describe' it in any form of text. So, being based on a story from the Theban cycle of tragedies, the film is rather a kind of shadow of this tragedy, an anti-tragedy.
